Liverpool FC America, for the second year in a row, has been invited by the Liverpool International Football Academy to send eight of our coaches to the Liverpool Football Club Academy for a week long intensive coaching education experience.    The coaches, under the leadership of former Liverpool player Jimmy Melia (12 years and 74 goals for LFC) include:  Technical Director Armando Pelaez, Regional Director (Western Region) Craig Jones, Regional Director (Eastern Region) Tim Trevino, Staff Coach (Temple) Rob Petro, Academy Director (Eastern Region) Jimmy Fagen, Academy Director (Western Region) Colin Yocom, and Deputy Director of Player Programs, Colin Rocke.  All eight coaches will experience Liverpool Football Academy training sessions and classroom sessions with Liverpool Academy coaches, both observing as well as participating with the academy staff and teams at the Academy as well as experiencing the overall culture in and around Liverpool Football Club.

This seven-day experience is guided and planned by the leadership of the International Football Academy, Dan White, Adam Flynn and Michael Yates.  This trip represents an important part of what it means to be the official US partner of Liverpool Football Club and what makes the relationship between our club in the United States and Liverpool Football Club real.  The trip is collaboration between the LFC International Football Academy leadership and our leadership here to fully integrate and reflect the culture, methodology and brand here in the United States.

Jimmy Melia said, “Being an official partner of Liverpool Football Club is much more than just wearing the name.  Being Liverpool means believing and sharing the common goals and philosophies of training and player development, that amazing passion for the game and emphasizing “The Liverpool Way” in everything we do.  You never ‘stop’ being Liverpool; it becomes a part of who you are.  There have been times that I was at Anfield and you suddenly hear thousands of people singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and tears are streaming down my face.  There is no better moment than that.”

Liverpool FC America to date has sent 18 coaches to Liverpool for coaching education and to experience the partnership, training, and passion that is so much a part of being Liverpool.  We are proud to put the resources behind our coaches to ensure they experience the Liverpool Football Club culture and training standards and in turn bring back the knowledge to improve themselves, their teams and the club overall.   This world class week is a once in a lifetime experience for a coach.   No other club in the US gives more support or opportunity to their coaches than Liverpool FC America.
