Once again, LFCA had teams representing the entity at the prestigious Disney tournament in Florida in December/January. The two teams proudly representing the club in this first time were: The Liverpool FC America 98 Girls, coached by Matt Veasey and the Liverpool FC America 97 Boys Dalglish, coach by Armando Pelaez.
The girls played very well against high level teams from New York East, North Carolina, Florida and Canada, finally losing in penalty kicks in the 3rd/4th place after amassing large amounts of possession, but, unfortunately could not put the ball in their opponent’s goal. Over the four games the Liverpool FC America girls impressed a large number of college coaches from all levels; NCAA D1 to NAIA schools.
Coach Veasey quoted: "I am incredibly proud. Before I took over 2.5 years ago they'd never even left Dallas as a team for a tournament; now these ladies are representing the club in one of the elite National level events. I'm sure exposure to this level of event will give them encouragement to continue pursuing their dreams of a college education. I couldn't be happier for them!"
The Girls are ranked 5 in North Texas.
The boys also played high level teams from Virginia, Illinois and Florida. They had an excellent performance against each one of these teams keeping possession of the ball most of each game, impressing their opponents and receiving lots of compliments from college coaches.
Coach Pelaez quoted: After working with this team for 8 years and keeping basically 8 of the original players, I can comfortably say that, the technique developed in each one of these players have led them to represent us at the highest level of soccer in the U.S. and the job is about to be completed.
The boys are ranked 7 in North Texas.
